Guest Anonymous
I do not know where to post this so sorry if it is in the wrong section. I have fuel pressure but my injectors are not injecting fuel into the cylinders. My spark plugs work. I need to know whether all my injectors are clogged or I am not getting anything signal to the injectors? The car has been sitting for 5 years. Any advice is good. Thanks
Drax240z
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure this will solve your issues. - Remove the fuel rail from the car with the injectors all attached to the rail. - Take a small, pointy object (I used a small finishing nail) and poke the pintle of each injector until you feel it move. (It will only move 0.020" or so) You should feel that it is a bit sticky when you poke it. - Reattach everything and give it a shot. I found that all 6 of my inectors were glued shut slightly with varnish, and they had been sitting for 3 years or so. I'd run some injector cleaner in your tank and try to clean them out that way, though in truth they should probably be removed and professionally cleaned. Guest Anonymous
wow that actually worked thanks alot man. The only problem now is that it runs but will not rev over 3000rpm. Also It will die if I do not mess with the afm or take my foot off the gas
Drax240z
What engine, engine management, modifications from stock, etc? Check for clogged air filter, fuel filter... obstructions in the intake, etc. See if you have a nice strong spark. Check your timing... Guest Anonymous
stock engine, replaced fuel filter, have no air filter, no obstructions in intake, and have not checked the timing. It seems to me that the car is running really lean. I am thinking the injectors still have some varnish in them and that is keeping the fuel from getting to the cylinder. Fuel pressure is really good and so is air flow so I am pretty sure it is the injectors. Just have to clean them out or get new ones. what to do what to do. edit: oh yeah have the stock engine that comes in the 76 280z. Do not know much about Zs so I dont know the engine names yet. Any help with that would also help.
z-ya
Send them out to Rich at Cruzin Performance. He has done two sets for me for $98 each. Pretty fast turn around too. http://www.cruzinperformance.com You are better off refurbishing your existing injectors, because the OEM ones are much better than the aftermarket junk (RAM) they sell at parts stores.
