Guest Neil
I went to an auction last night to bid on a 74 260Z that was in pretty decent shape (better than the one I'm driving, anyway). I had to wait 3 hours for them to get to the car, and when it came up, the owner wasn't there so they wouldn't auction it! I think it would have just been between me and one other guy too. Man, was I miffed.

Guest Neil
Follow up: Actually, it must have been a sign. Divine intervention! I went back to the auction house late last night to see if the Z was still there/auctioned. When I got there around 9:00, it had already gone through and the buyer was in the office paying for it. I talked to him about the car and his intentions for it. He said he was just going to turn around and sell it, so we talked a little more. Anyway, we struck a deal. I would pay his bid ($250) and get the car and title from the auction house and give him $75. So, add that plus the $45 processing fee for the auction house and I got a 74 260 Z that runs for $370! The car's in relatively good shape, too. Some rust, but nothing too major. The interior is great. It has AC and all of the little things (lights, signals, radio, etc.) work! It also has a 4 barrel carb. It does need new glass on the driver's side door and a new battery. Also, the passenger side door won't stay closed. It made for an interesting drive home. I had to take my belt off and loop it around the door handle and hold it until I got home. The suspension is a little loose as well. All in all, however, this is a nice car. I believe that this one may be worth restoring. I also heard from the owner that there was a fellow at the auction last week with $800 in hand to buy the Z. If it had gone up for auction last week, there's no way I would have brought it home. To quote Elwood Blues (from my 2 year old's favorite movie), "The Lord works in mysterious ways." I'd also like to take this opportunity to tell you what a supportive and loving wife I have (and no, she is not standing over my shoulder as I type this). She is the one who suggested that I go try to get the Z last night.
Drax240z
Is this your first Z? Congrats on the find either way. Post up some pictures when you can.
Guest Neil
No, this is my second. I also have a 76 280 Z that paid $250 for, but it didn't run when I bought it and I have since spend mucho dinero on it. I'll try to get some pics up soon.
