Guest jdllaugh
I'm planning an LSI swap without power steering. I guess I could mount up an idler pulley in place of the power steering pump, but it would be nice to just have a shorter accessory belt and route it around only the components I'm using. Where would you find such an item?
jeromio
So, off topic, but I hafta (jealously) ask: Does this imply that you're pretty much wrapping up your swap? Man, I suck....
jeromio
Pretty much any auto parts store.... Just measure the length you need with a piece of string around the pulleys you have. Keep in mind you need to ensure that the belt wraps well around the water pump pulley.
Guest jdllaugh
Doh! That's too simple. I envisioned having to order some custom belt at twice the price!
Guest jdllaugh
I wish! I am just working my way through the install mentally at this point trying to identify sticking points. Things like the VATS system and fuel tank, etc. etc. Fortunately, many of the obstacles have been discussed on this board or one of the member websites. Yours has been very helpful! As for my project, the car is in pieces in my garage. The next major step is to remove the dash and steering column. Then I have to tackle the suspension and rear end. Another couple afternoons and it will be completely stripped. I'm taking an evening welding class at the vo-tech and plan to begin welding up a rotisserie in the next week or so. Hopefully the stripping, learning and welding will come to a head and I can attack the rusty floors in mid-June. I figure I will have the car running by February 30th.
