Guest 280ZXT83
Well, I'm down to final body work and paint. I was originally hoping for that subtle look, but that went out the window with the side pipes. I don't mind the hood scoop, but my question is more of functionality, than looks, at this point. My thoughts on the hood are to fab up a cover for the two original intakes on the hood, and just have the scoop in the center. So, by taking those other two intakes away, do I now have to go with a larger scoop? I don't want a scoop the size of a box of encyclopedias, so I'm open to leaving the other intakes there, if I need to. I have an Air Gap mainifold. Does one air cleaner setup allow for more air than another. Your thoughts and recommendations are always appreciated. JP.
Guest greimann
You have left out some vital info, like what car and what engine you have, but I'm guessing from your nick and your comments that it is a ZX with a Chevy V8. Here is my take on a air scoop setup: http://home.earthlink.net/~dvgreimann/airbox.html
Guest 280ZXT83
My bad. It's an 82 280zx (formerly turbo) 2+2. I put a 350 in it. I have a couple of different threads going on a couple of different issues and thought I had alread covered that on this one. GREAT LINK!! I wish I had found that before I started. That's a much cleaner implementation than mine. I hope I can get mine looking half as nice. My other Z is the 83 ZX Turbo (thus my name). If I have an original and a modified, I don't have to deal with the nasty glares from my local Z club bud's!
