Wheel fitment guide....(510, but may help. Need Z version)

Recommended Posts

I've been into 510s for over a decade and now made the switch to a V8 Z. I see that there are many guys out there (like myself) that would like to know the widest wheel & tire combo that will fit w/o flares and even with flares. Maybe someone would be interested in putting something together if everyone sent wheel size/offset, tire size, and pic (or link) of what they've got on their cars. I wouldn't mind getting the info from everyone and put it together, but someone else would need to make up a page. Anyone game? I'd think the Z crowd is big enough to have a very comprehensive wheel site with links to manufacturers or retailers. Maybe it's just us 510 guys that are crazy enough to put out that kind of info for fellow 510ers.

Here's a site that lists OE wheels of makes that work on a 510, as well as aftermarket stuff.

I had a blast with my 510s, but getting into Sport Compact Car. My last one had a VG turbo with 340HP/ 400 ft lbs with double A-arms up front. Before that, an L22 w/ TWM/Electramotive programable EFI, comp close ratio 5 speed, limited slip, coilovers, 4 wheel disks, etc. Both were performers, having autocross class championships and hillclimb records, while winning at car shows. That's the goal with the Z, too.

As for motors for the 510, I'd go VG before anything else. With the kit out there, it's an affordable and relatively easy install. You have to hack the car to put an L6 into one, losing the heater/defroster, so it's not a good thing to do. The best 510 site is: http://www.dimequarterly.com We do a quarterly newsletters with everything from basic tune-up & upgrades to radical mods. The mailing list has 400+ people worldwide and a good source of info. I've tried virtually everything you can do to a 510 and realized you can only make a brick go so fast, so it was time to drive a "bullet". :-D Stay tuned for more posts in the future.
