what else can go wrong, no start after new harness

all i did today was take a fresh wiring harness and replace the weathered one i had in my ZXT today. its an 83 turbo, 5 speed.

well when i was done i started the car and drove it down the street and back with no problesm.

a few hours later, no start at all. turn off the fuel pump and it would start, but hard start and run. once while having it running i replaced the fuse for the fuel pump and the car shut down immediately

changing out the harness in the engine bay is almost childs play and is basically plug and play.

i dont understand what went wrong, only difference between the two harnesses is that the one i originally had has one extra ground wire that the new harness didnt have. also, it has, what seems to be an extra injector plug in the area of the tps.

can anyone help??? please, i need this car running asap!

thanks for any insight

come to find out for some reason that the throttle postion valve was out of adjustment.

adjusted the TPV, now she runs just as good as before.

i wonder why though that it had to be readjusted, it was running perfectly fine before with the other harness. everything is proper everywhere else.

just dont get that one. any ideas as to why?

If there was any resistance in the wiring the adjustment would have been set for it. With less resistance it was like changing the TPS. Just a thought, why did you replace it. Well worn I guess?? :?:

the harness i bought was from jeffp, it was intended to be used on a 240 convert to a turbo. well, the 240 i had to sell, so i decided since this wiring harness had all new connectors, rubber boots, and was well put together i figured why not.

besides that it would clean up the engine bay with a better looking and cleaner harness, and now i have a spare. the other was a bit warn but that was all.

nothing that i could see physically wrong with it, it did have new fi connections, but you know just trying to make things look and perform better.

all is good now, it was strange though, how it needed to be adjusted. maybe your right, who knows.

Wiring new or old can have excessive drag in it. I have had new spark plug wires that were bad out of a sealed box. Only way to tell is to check continuity. GLad it worked out quickly for ya. I hate electrical....
