Does anyone know anything about the dual glass pack exhaust system made by msa. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PEC09

I am lookin for something easy to install with good flow, and a loud, but not too loud sound. Like, no whinning at high RPMs. Anyone know any info? Also which one would I get for bolting on a completely stock exhaust system on a 1976 280z.

If you want something fairly quiet, do NOT get the twice pipes system--I bought one (it was cheap) and did not like it--my dad described it as "a cessna flying 3 feet off the ground at full throttle"

I had a 2 1/2" pipe run to the rear (had a header, so it came right off the collector) and hung a 4" supertrapp on the end--that was about half as loud as the twicepipes system

I dont have the system your talking about but i have a 76 and have been running a glasspack as my only muffler with the stock resonator(cause it looked like it wold be a pita to remove with the tools and whatnot i had availible at the time) for three years or so and i still like it alot.. granted it sounded alot better befor all the glass burned up and blew out.. but it still sounds nice. at cruising speeds its only a nice hum.. very nice =]

I have a 75 L28 in my 240 temporary with the same exhaust system until Jim delivers my L28et to me, then its time to break out the engine hoist :D but thats another story...Don't let the "turbo" in the name fool you. It is for NA Zcars. It has a nice tone/sound and isn't so quiet you can't hear at idle. Cruising in 3rd or 4th at about 2300-2500 RPM it develops a nice deep almost V8 drone. Also when getting on it, you hear it, very distinct and haven't heard any other cars that sound the same with the L6. It's not as loud as a ricer exhaust, but will get people attention.

I think the motor breathes very well, and wouldn't say that it is a restrictive exhaust. I'm not an engineer and haven't dynoed it before and after so can't say 100%. Its made with 2 and 1/2 inch pipe so I don't think thats restricting it any. I would give them a call at 1800 633 6331 and ask them if they have any hard facts on it.

Does it flow well, rather, will it give any performance increase?

On ITS prepped motors a dual exhaust kills the power. Big bore and big cam, who knows? For a street car it is probably worse than a single 2.5 with a Dynomax SUper Turbo or equivalent.

I would say, yes, the "turbo" exhaust from MSA is better than the stock system. I think Katman is saying a dual exhaust system is worse than the single 2.5" for the street, and that the "turbo" exhaust in that page I posted is better than their twice pipes system they offer.
