Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
Hey, I have my Z parked now and it's going to be sitting for a little while. I'm going to be pulling the intake and exhaust off and changing all of the gaskets. Also thinking about powder-coating or painting with a high temp paint. For the intake I think I will be staying with the two SU setup, I just need to get them cleaned out and maybe consider a rebuild. How difficult/expensive is it to rebuild these SUs? How do I determine if a rebuild is really needed? I will also be seeing about removing all of the lines for the fuel tank and converting over to a newer type of setup with a vented gas-cap. Any comments, ideas, words of inspiration?
Guest 240hybrid
http://www.ztherapy.com They know a good bit about SU's. Hit them up.
Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
woohoo! Totally stoked. I got everything off and found all my problems. First, the tube connecting the two intake manifolds was loose, then when I got the exhaust off I found three spots on the manifold gasket that were blown out! Isnt it great when you find your problem! Now I get to put that back together and all should be well.
Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
YES! All back together and kicks ass! Cut the resonator out of the exhaust and it sounds beautiful! Got the carbs tuned and everything flows great and no leaks! Just wasted a 5-series Bimmer tonight Also got the pleasure of scootin down the street un-capped on my way to the exhaust shop to get some work done. OOOoo, did that sound goood!
