My Z going "under the knife"

Hey,

I have my Z parked now and it's going to be sitting for a little while. I'm going to be pulling the intake and exhaust off and changing all of the gaskets. Also thinking about powder-coating or painting with a high temp paint. For the intake I think I will be staying with the two SU setup, I just need to get them cleaned out and maybe consider a rebuild. How difficult/expensive is it to rebuild these SUs? How do I determine if a rebuild is really needed?

I will also be seeing about removing all of the lines for the fuel tank and converting over to a newer type of setup with a vented gas-cap.

Any comments, ideas, words of inspiration?

woohoo!

Totally stoked.

I got everything off and found all my problems. First, the tube connecting the two intake manifolds was loose, then when I got the exhaust off I found three spots on the manifold gasket that were blown out!

Isnt it great when you find your problem! Now I get to put that back together and all should be well. :D

YES!

All back together and kicks ass!

Cut the resonator out of the exhaust and it sounds beautiful!

Got the carbs tuned and everything flows great and no leaks!

Just wasted a 5-series Bimmer tonight

Also got the pleasure of scootin down the street un-capped on my way to the exhaust shop to get some work done. OOOoo, did that sound goood! :-D
