L24 Distributor swapping into F54 Block question

Heres my dilemna...I have what was originally an L28ET F54 block...but is being converted to an NA motor using flat-top pistons and either an N42 or P90 head. The motor never had a distributor when I bought it. I also have a '71 240Z with a stock L24. I was considering using the L24 distributor (converted from points to an Ignitor Electronic Ignition) in the F54 block...but I have heard there would be some problems with the distributor drive gearing if I was to do this. If this is so...I have thought of using the L24 distributor, L24 oil pump/distributor drive gear on L28 crank, and L24 timing chain cover on the F54 block...that way all components related to driving and mounting the distributor are in their original positions. Is this the way I would have to do it...or am I thinking about it too hard and I should just drop the L24 distributor into the F54 block? Would there be any problems using an L24 distributor with a ZXT oil pump?

Thanks in advance.

You can use your L28ET drive shaft with your L24 dizzy if the block is a 81-82( had an external CAS - Crank angle sensor, on the harmonic balancer). 83's had a different dizzy drive shaft(splined with a small half-moon drive) Any of the older shafts are interchangeable (large half-moon drive). Check and see which shaft is in your engine. BTW All front covers and oil pumps are interchangeable in the L24-L28 range. The oil pump drive end of the 2 shafts are identical. Hope this helps - Doug
