Anyone here put one of these in a Z? Someone recommended it to me because it's lighter than the original Z engine so it doesn't hurt the handling and it's got a bunch more torque than the Z.

How is the aftermarket performance parts availability for the Vortech v6?

i dont know about after market parts but the 4.3l's will mount up using the JTR set back plates. Most of the engine would be behind the front struts aswell.=goodness

I am considering doing the same... I believe the block has the same bolt pattern for the motor mounts and trans. I have T56 that I will be using with mine. I have also heard the '92-'95 engines are better, something with the oil flow and valve train not being as good with '96 and later? Guessing will probably have to go with a custom ground cam as well. I havent done a whole lot looking just yet but I think for the aftermarket stuff its somewhat limited.

Yeah, I like that the weight is further back for handling. Do you know what cars/models this came in? I'm driving a 95 Chevy van with the 4.3 and TPI in it. Even in such a big vehicle and no performance parts, it moves pretty good.

I'll be putting it in a pre 74 so I don't have to worry about smog with the performance parts. So with a little performance cam, it should make a Z pretty darn fast.

Do you mean TBI? I know for sure the vortech came in the S10, may have come in some other vehicles. The one I have came from a '94 S10. I think the vans and others that have the 4.3 have the TBI setup, not the same as the S10 vortech, but I'm not positive on that. Unless you plan on running it with a carb, I think the short blocks are all the same?
