Guest szlash280z
can anyone give me a step by step on how to make a good inexpensive boost controller? I can't seem to find anything that helps on here.
spotfitz
Have you tried searching for MBC(Manual Boost Control) in the turbo/supercharged forum?
Guest bastaad525
szlash - it's a piece of cake man. Order the parts from mcmaster carr, and you can have the thing together in like 5 minutes. The only thing is that you do need to drill one very small hole on the thing, about .020". I had a friend do this for me with a "pin vice" I believe he called it. Here are some links to get you started... the whole thing will cost you around $20. http://pages.cthome.net/gus/mike.html This is the page that shows the part #'s you need (there are three things you must order, the numbers are scattered around the page so be sure you find all three) and the assembly instructions. A lot of the info on that page does not apply though (the parts with the color MS Paint diagram/drawings). http://www.mcmaster.com/ This is where you order the parts. http://www.dawesdevices.com/boost.html This page sells the same exact thing premade for like $50, if you're lazy but more importantly gives you some info on how the thing works, the benefits of using it vs. say, threading the wastegate or using a bleed type controller, and lastly, has links to how to install the thing (not that it's hard, it just goes inline with the vacuum hose to the WG actuator). Hope this helps
Guest szlash280z
wow! all the parts will cost me $20? Tyson (owner of zcarchat and z-parts.com) said he would sell me one for $25 shipped since I have purchased stuff from him before. I am still going to check out those sites you gave me though. I appreciate it man!
Guest bastaad525
actually the thing would cost about $10 to make, the problem is that one of the parts can only be ordered in a pack of 10, at least, from that mcmaster website. The whole pack is like $10. If you could find that part individually you could build it for $10-12. It's the part with the male hose barb, that screws on to the actual ball valve. Another option is to find a mcmaster place near you or a grainger place, I have like 3 grainger places close by to me, go in and get them in person to save the shipping money. If there's nothing close by then giving tyson the $25 would still be a good deal as long as he's drilling the hole in it too.
