I took it into the shop and because it was only a few days past its warrenty they said they will do it for free since I only put on 7000 miles since last summer when I got it fixed. Last year they ended up putting in a remanufactured TH350 which costed me a pretty penny. Early this summer the thing started to grind when it shifts and it eventualy got worse. After about 3 days in the shop they said they found out what was the problem. Somebody put in a shift-kit and did it wrong. Also they were basicaly accusing me of abusing the transmission by being rough with it as well as shifting to first gear at high speed. I admited to doing this once as I only did it one time at 25 mph out of curiosity but this was last year within the week I got it back from the shop and since then have put on at least 6000 trouble free miles. The mechanic was talking about going from 50 mph to first which is something I can garentee that I have never done. Well he made such a big deal about it that I agreed to pay for the broken sprag which is around $150 but this guy was still seriously trying to make me feel bad. He went on how he had to look out for his customers and the shop and turn a profit which I can understand and is why I agreed to pay for the part. He then tried to talk me into a transmission cooler after I agreed that it would be fair that I at least paid for the part. Anyways what really gets me is that they were the last shop to look at the tranny last year and I never even got a shift-kit for it. Couldn't they have seen the problem when they put in the transsmission the first time if there was a shift kit on it? Also how can he get away with accusing me of being rough with it? Probably 95% of the time I drive like an elderly person. I'm terrified of getting pulled over or breaking something that I had to shell out the cash for. I've put in shift kits and if you put it in wrong it doesn't work or at least not work right. Not work for 7000 miles and eat the tranny! And what's up with a remanufactured (yeah right) tranny doing with a shift kit in it if you didn't put it in? Looks to me like they sold you junk and got caught, then with enough brow beating made you feel like maybe it was your fault and fleeced you for another $150. I'd stay away from that place, hopefully they fixed it right and you will be trouble free. And BTW, unless things have changed I don't think an auto will manually shift into 1st over 30mph, unless you have a shift kit in it Lance Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
