Hello people. Well Just curious what rotor I should use for the zx wilwood rear system. making the hat and brackets is no problem at all. its just choosing a rotor that will work best the first time. I have been asked to use 12 inch just like the front. Well should that 12 inch rotor be .35 thick, would you like it vented .75 at least. Any opinions are welcome because I am getting close to machining this. Thank you!!

Well it looks like Ill be using the the 12.19 but yet have to determine what thickness . Probably will go .75 thick vented unless someone wants to give their opinion. The larger rotor will give the needed clearance for mounting the Wilwood caliper and the adapter bracket. Guys this stuff is not fun doing on a sunny Sunday afternoon but I have nothing to do otherwise.

Are all the mounting and spacing the same on the zx's in the brake system? Like if I made the adapters for the 79 it should fit all 280zx models?

I dont' know if 79-81's are all the same, but I can check as I have both at home. Now have you thought about using a rotor that is already in production? Like a one piece for a 240sx kit or something like that? Something to think about. When are you going to have the front kit ready, and what are the details on that? Thanks!

correction, I don't know if the 79-83's are all the same. I know the 79-81 hardware is different than the later models, but I think the hubs and mounting points might all be the same.

The rears are completely different beasts between the '79-81 and the '82-83. I've had both types on different cars and they aren't even close. As far as OE stuff goes, the '82-83 stuff is better, has a nicer caliper (looks like a mini version of the fronts) and the rotor hat thickness is dramatically different. Hope that helps.
