Guest Anonymous
So, im pretty much a trolling newb around here, and have been looking for some information on what you guys think is the best year and model Z for a chevy v8 JTR conversion. Im looking for the model that is the easyest to do the swap on as well as the model with the least things I would need to replace. Any information would be sweet. Thanks Tristam

Thanks Tristam[/quote'] I just went through this. I was set on a 70-73 240z, but phantom convinced me to look for a 75-78 280z.. Why? Same body style, already has an F.I. fuel tank, already has the 200 rearend, and is more solid then the 240's. Also they are easier to find. Guest HBskinheadZ
I think it will be a personal preference thing but I like the early 74 260z. I bought mine for $350 on ebay, the early 74 has the best of both worlds. (1) still has 240 struts (2) 280 stub axles (stronger) 3)280 dash for easier a/c installation (4) probably should be #1, smog exempt in Ca. (5) More structural support than 240 (6) still has thin bumpers, but have to do a little work to mount like 240...(7) Price, they can be had for a fraction of the cost of a 240 in good condition. Plus people dont get mad when you cut up a 260. The early 260 z dosent have the r200 but so what, I have pulled several from the junk yard with mustash bar and axles for $65. Good luck with your decision.
