Guest Z-rific
A friend of mine just had an old buddy buy a house nearby. In the garage shed are supposedly 2 Chevy 350's that had run before being pulled. Everything is on them; water pumps, fuel pumps, alternators, distributors and starters. The guy just wants them gone, and is giving them away. So I said "Hell I'll take 'em." One has a transmission bolted on. This is all I know about them til Sunday, when I'm gonna go check them out and copy down casting numbers. There is also supposed to be a box of alternators and distributors. Hard to say "No" to freebies.
Guest zfan
Awsome score you lucky dog. Blocks, especially four bolts are getting harder to find that have not been bored 40 or 60 over. Mike
Guest Z-rific
Well, I checked out the engines today. Turns out, they are not SBC's at all. One is an Olds 350 from 1970, and the other is an Olds 455 from 1973. The 350 has an auto transmission bolted on, which I'm assuming is a TH350. I also found a Holley spreadbore carb. I haven't looked into which model it is. It's pretty big. I will rebuild it, as I have no idea of it's history and how well it worked when removed. It's in nice shape though. Obviously, neither of these engines will replace the Chevy 350 in the Z. But, that 455 could make some monster power for something else. Now, what could I drop that in......
