Guest Anonymous
I met up with Zdreamer (Mark and yes we really are just friends) at lunch time at his builders shop where his engine currently resides. Very cool heads, really huge valves and ports and for SBC heads I must say I was truly impressed. Sorry about the one large picture, I only had enough power to snap one and unfortunately I got it on the higer resolution. Impressive heads though no? That was until he whipped out a 460 Ford aluminum race head for his car. Holy crap, talk about big ports, intake CC's at something like 500 cc's or more can't recall. I'll tell you this, I don't have huge hands, but I was able to stuff all four in the intake port and the scary thing was.... I could have put my other four fingers in there AT THE SAME TIME if I had been so amused to do so. Seriously, the ports have to be close to 2x3" on these things. Of course this is seriously expensive stuff, near 40k for a motor. But it seriously looks like its 600 inches will lay down some serious power. Sorry to post this in the chevy area, but thought I'd tell about it, kinda humbles you a bit when he's talking 6 sec door slammers (and I use the phrase lightly). Anyway, Thanks Mark, that was pretty educational, and your motor really is pretty damn awesome too, he just kinda stunned me with huge ports and titanium valves. My head turned by large ports and titanium valves, I'm such a slut... Regards, Lone
Z-Dreamer
Thanks Lone, I knew you would get a kick out of seeing some BIG POWER motors! Bob Johnson knows how to make HP that lasts! After you split, Bob and I had lunch and I asked him about the pics you shot of his door slammer. He said he didn't mind you posting them on this site, just not to make copies to hand out to everone. That chassis is a work of art, with several inventive design features! I'm at the inlaws in SoCal now, the drive was ok, but man the heat was unbearable, even with A/C! We hit Krammer Juction at about 2:00pm and it was 116`F! Anyway I'll definitely call you when I get to Phoenix. Mark
Guest Anonymous
Mark, the one chassis photo I thought I took apparently didn't take, not sure why, maybe I didn't snap the button, I didn't have the flash on and though that it took it. To bad, the guy has a awesome tube frame under a early falcon body, insanely detailed, every weld is tig and a work of art, huge tubes, its got a centerlink locator that is above the axle centers and its got the driveline safety hoop welded on it too, very cool, learned a few little tidbits of info. Mark, you should hang on this guys sleeve a bit, could learn alot. Anyway, yeah call me, not sure I'll be working yet, but we'll see stranger things have happened (this year thats for sure). jt1
A friend with a late model dirt car runs a 355 chev with the pontiac heads. How does 747 hp at the crank sound???? Those heads are pretty amazing.
