Guest Jason
My stock 280zx exhaust snakes between the bottom of the car and the rear crossmember and differential in what looks to be about a 3x5 inch rectangle. The other side looks to be reserved for fuel/wireing. Although I would like a dual exhaust system, I don't think I can run more than a single 2.5 or 3" pipe through the current route. How did people with dual exhausts address this clearance problem with the rear crossmember? Did anyone simply run the exhaust under the x-member? Guest Drewz
first off are you V8ing this unit? ------------------ Drewz
Guest Jason
Of course! The v8 isn't in yet, but I like to plan ahead. I don't think I can modify the crossmember for clearance without removing the rear sway bar. I'm sure someone with a Z or ZX can answer this. Guest Drewz
The zx is alot tighter around the rear because they switched to a front mounted swing arm for the independent so I will be of limited help as I can not see the car. If need be you can purchase some mandrel 3" pieces and snake a mandrel through there but if you are looking to acheive more than 300hp this will not do it justice so hopefully someone who has a ZX can key in to give you some better ideas. ------------------ The only stupid question is one you wanted to ask but never did!!!
