Guest butlersZ
A friend gave me some rods with pistons attached and said he didn't know what they were, anyway the rod is about 6.0 inches and the pistons are stamped .30 and measure 3.905 in diameter meaning the stock bore is or was 3.875". Now they look like chevy rods and pistons but does anyone know what motor be it chevy or not used this rod/bore combination? Also the pistons are true flat-tops like those of the L28, no valve reliefs. Sorry no pics. The rod journal measures 2.10 with bearings in. Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
283 = 3.875" x 3.00" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod) or 307 = 3.875" x 3.25" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod) http://www.mortec.com/borstrok.htm
Guest butlersZ
So then it they could be for a long rod rod 283 or 307 as long as the compression height is right, right? Has anyone ever heard of this being done with a 283 or 307? I know the longer rod would mean slower piston speed which is good, but is there any HP or TQ gain with a longer rod?
