Adlashwa
As far as that center piece being for structural ridgidity...it is so thin and narrow it didnt have much structural integrity originally...So we got rid of it. I am running a strut tower brace and we strengthened the crossmember in the conversion... So even if it did have some structural necesity to it....we wouldnt have needed it with the extra support we have. Now regarding installing the LS1 instead of a VG30DETT motor. First of all, i wanted to get away from the VG motors as they tend to have some reliability issues in my opinion. And when they break down...even if you do the labor...the replacement parts are ridiculously expensive. Even after market parts are extrememly expensive... I wanted a 300+rwhp motor stock with out the use of turbos/SC/nitrous. I wanted a reliable motor that was also a modern fuel injected one. I looked at the Ford 4.6 and 5.4 litre motors and they had too wide of a "V" to them and wouldnt have fit as well as the larger displacement LS1. Also i looked at the weight advantage of the LS1...it was lighter than the ford motors...it is even lighter than the VG30DETT motor! The challenge was also convincing
Guest Grenade300
Well, I can definately understand the cost of parts ussue. I am really pleased to see that you like a challenge, that is the entire basis of this forum. I can imagine the challenge that it must have been. I definitly give you a lot of credit for pulling off such a transfer.
