silicone boy
I have an open question for the forum. I recently picked up a TPI system as part of a twin turbo setup from EBay (paid just over a grand for a ton of stuff plus tons of extras in addition to what you see below) I'm not sure if I want to use the TPI, but then again, I kind of want to just because I've always thought they look great. I already have an Electromotive TEC3 setup with a 1000 cfm throttle body and a single plane intake manifold. As I said, the only reason I want to use the TPI is the way it looks. I've heard, however, that the stock TPI with 48 MM throttle body flows only about 700 cfm. Even with a bigger throttle body (added expense), I'd be hard pressed to get close to the 1000 cfm of the other system. Should I just bag the looks in favor of a little more CFM? Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
You should also keep in mind the differences in performance. TBI and TPI act differently. TPI is going to give you greater responsiveness and a much more even flow and distribution. TBI has it's advantages too in that it produces pretty good bottom end, and I believe it can flow up in the higher RPMS better (this is why I am choosing to go TBI on my setup). silicone boy
I should clarify. My current setup is also a multiport system, just like TPI. It looks like this: It does have a throttle body, but it's not TBI.
