wheelman
I just pulled the L24 and 4-Speed from my 1973 240. Are these worth anything? I compression tested the engine. Cylinder 1 was low (75psi, 110 with oil), all the others were either 125 or 150. The intake and ignition systems are missing. The oil smelled like it had gasoline in it when I drained it before pulling the engine. I never drove the car so I don't know the condition of the clutch or transmission, although shifting it while sitting it seemed tight and the fluid that ran out when I pulled it was clean and clear. Anyway I'm planning on selling the combination to a metal scrap yard just for the steel content. What do you guys think, is it worth the cost of advertising in the paper before I do that or not? Dan Juday
My L6 and 4 speed sold on ebay for $130. I never heard it run, although your description sounds worse than mine was. The scrap yard won't give you enough to pay the gas for the trip there and back. Post it on ebay, it's worth a shot.
