Guest jjohart
I was up in NH last weekend getting new brakes on my 83 280ZXT, and the mechanic started telling me how I would get a lot more torque on my car if I put on MSD 6A or equiv, booster coil, etc. Now, I remember looking into these components for a Chevy van camper, believing manufacturer hype about getting better mileage with them. Most of the knowledgeable sorts I consulted told me this was baloney, that it is the equivalent of throwing two matches into the same can filled with gasoline. I am planning an intercooler, 3" exhaust and Bosch fuel pump and CarTec/Bell progressive rate fuel controller, but my gut feeling is I don't want to start fussing with much else (no AFC, no 37lb injectors, etc, since I'm only looking for 250-300bhp from the car, maybe 14 pounds of boost or less. Am I being pushed into going into aftermarket by a tech who, while meaning well, is maybe off the reality of the efficacy of MSD/etc...
