maichor
It turns out that before Dan Juday enlightened me about the roll pin adapter that Ron Tyler can make, I drilled and tapped the LS1 slave cylinder to fit 1/4 NPT. 1/8 was too small and those were the only fittings I had that could adapt to the 3 AN I wanted to use. Well, it turns out that when I tapped it, there was not too much extra metal there and it cracked. I didn't notice it at first, but when I added fluid and pressure . . . : Now I have to spend $100 on a part I already had. This time I am getting the adapter. Can you feel my pain? Still, this is one of my first big screw ups on this 3 year project. I guess it's all good. http://photos.yahoo.com/maichor75104
Mike kZ
Go to the junk yard, and get one from a T5. There should be plenty at the yard. Plus it has a bleeder screw, and it works with a T56. Also don't worry about it being used. There isn't much too them inside. If you want to tap this one, there is more material around the hole, so it won't crack. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27526&highlight=t56+slave+option If you have your heart set on a new T56 one, I have a brand new in box T56 slave and master for a Camaro ( '93 - 97 ). $75 + shipping. jeromio
I very much doubt that the T5 slave is compatible with the LS1 T56. The LS1 T56 uses a hydraulic throwout-bearing style slave. As I recall, mine was less than $100 though. Try some of the online places: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/index.cfm http://www.expressautoparts.com/ - Actually, I think I got mine from a dealership that sponsors http://ls1tech.com. Look in their sponsor list or the special sponsor's specials/group purchase board. I think it was a pontiac dealership. Wish I could remember because the guy was very prompt and helpful. See my site for modifications to the slave to work with standard parts.

jeromio
Nerves of steel. Actually, it wasn't all that bad. The part is cast aluminum - pretty soft. I used the rubber O-ring that the OEM fitting employs so that I would not have to tighten the fitting too hard. info here: http://240z.jeromio.com/motorswap/t56.html
maichor
Yeah, I probably tightened it too much. Live and learn.
maichor
I replaced the dead slave and came up with a solution to the roll pin connector problem. On this new unit, I decided not to drill and tap the slave cylinder. Instead, I wanted an adapter to got from a GM roll pin connector to 1/8" NPT. So, I cut off the roll pin connector, mounted it in a drill and spun it while I took a grinder to it to get the taper for the pipe theads, definitely not precision work, but the maching shop wanted $80+ to do it and run a die down it. So, I took my die to went to it. First try, no leaky! Now I can reuse the adapter and not have to redrill if the slave goes out.
