sorry that I haven't been here in a while but I have a question that I'll probably get 1000 responses. Is the JTR manual set up for later model 280 ZX's also? I have an 82 that NEEDS a V-8 bad.

I too am planning a v8 for my 82. I do not have the book yet, but my understanding is that it does not specifically cover the ZX's, but they are close enough that the book is a good starting point. The firewall is further forward than the older Z's, so the JTR setback is not applicable.

Maybe Ross C, or Greimann(sp?) can chime in.

I can't comment about the JTR manual because I don't have one. It is true that the ZX motor mounts are basically spacers that you make up from sheetmetal or blocks, depending on the motor mount style. Trans mount is similar. Everything else is plumbing and wiring. I would say that Datsun and Chevy wiring diagrams are also vital resources. Other solutions you can develop yourself or get advice from the board. cheers.gif

JTR manual is for the first gen Z only. Its a older publication and since he was in california, I think Mike Knell (not to speak for him, I don't know him afterall) concerned himself with a car that was smog exempt (first gen pre 73) although he did mention it was possible to smog later ones and had one photographed with the smog stuff on it, I'm not sure if the mule was that car that had all the smog stuff on it DavyZ might know, he actually got to drive the JTR mule.

Regards,
