majik16106
Been looking but its hard to get a good answer. so lets go from here. I have a Z completely stripped of its interior, no carpet, no seats, no inner door panel, no nothing. What are some good things to do to sound/weather deaden the car. Someone on the Ga Z club said there is some stuff you can buy at napa, sounded like black stuff you cut to shapes then adhere on with a heat gun. What do you guys use to make the car sound more solid, and be a little more resistant to cold weather seeping in the thin metal floor boards? im having my doors redone right now so that the windows open/close easier and more correctly, and the door skinds replaced, and i figured he may know a way to fill holes with foam or something so they sound nice and solid... any tips for the rest of the car? Guest Aaron
A lot of people use Dynamat. Someone on here had found a cheaper alternative. Search for Dynamat and you should find some answers.
Moridin
Brown Bead is a cheaper, better alternative to Dynamat and Dynamat extreme. Here's the website http://www.b-quiet.com/
deMideon
I did / am doing a number of things. My Z was also completely stripped. I first used truck bed liner on all of the surfaces. It's thick and will help deaden sounds and seal things too! I then put brown bread on all vertical panels to reduce the vibration. Next I glued aluminum faced insulation (JcWhitney) over all of it. This stuff also works on the floor, so I am glueing it everywhere!
majik16106
i liek the idea of the brown bread.. roughly how much would i need? say for the main interior, doors..
Guest V8wannabe
Mine is similar to Demidion, get the rust out first then rust primer covered with truck bed liner (I used an aerosol can type). Then I used a roofing product "Water & Ice" I think it was called. It's sticky, tar-like on one side and thick vinyl/nylon on the other side. I think it used in roof valleys and edges. Cost me around $50 (canadian) to do most of the interior, including the inner door panels. The car's not on the road yet, but the doors have a lot more solid sound then they are closed. A stereo install place turned me onto it as a lot cheaper alternative to Dynamat.
