Guest EC0T3C
How much can the 240z's rear axle handle? Would it be worth while to swap a camaros?

Guest BigWhyteDude
correct me if im misstaken but doesnt the camaro have a live axle? If it does then that is some major work you have to do to get it to work right. It really depends on what our intentions are with this project. If you want to put a turbo charged LT1 or LS1 in it then maybe. If you want to stay with I.D.R.S. then you could just put a Nissan maxima diff in the car. (R230) with the cv's/stub axles/ i can't keep them strait. If you tell us what you want to do with this I.E. Road race, auto cross, drag, and what kind of HP and Torque you want to put to the ground it would be easyer to give a suggestion. Guest EC0T3C
Well First off a chevy 350. I havent really decided yet. I know i am gunna use it for auto-x and drag racing. I hpe to put down around 4-600 (i havent decided yet maybe even more) hp some where in that range with or without nitrous. And i want about a 40/60 frt/bck ratio. Guest 73TPIZ
Mike KZ (above) has some nice photos of his shortened 12 bolt rear. i think he back-halfed (or just re-inforced, can't remember) the car for it. Nice job and photos on his gallery/website. looks even better in person. my stock rear always felt loose and after switching out 3 used center sections and 2 sets of A-arms/struts i finally started my shortened 8.8 swap. i won't back half mine. just modifying a bit. i'll be running a 2 link with a torque arm, moving the inner fenders in an inch each (homemade mini-tub), air bags behind the axle, and shocks up in the original strut towers. been a lot of debate on here so a search with "axle" or "rear'' in the suspension section should turn up a lot of info. good luck
