Guest Anonymous
I am planning a v8 conversion for my 73 240z the engine I am planning for is a chevy 350 and I think it is a LT1 crate engine....my question though is what would be and optimal tranny and would I need a new rear end or will the stock work...I would think it would work for a little while but after not too long I think I would end up killin it. Just looking for some input really as to what a good and fast setup would be preferably with some good low end as well. Thanx for any and all info. Guest Anonymous
An R200 out of a 280 Z will bolt in and handle up to 350 HP. T56 transmission or a 4 speed automatic. Do you have the JTR Manual?

Guest Anonymous
JTR A good purchase. by all means do your best to get the car running and iron out all the bugs before proceeding with a v8. Do your modifications (ie suspension, brakes etc first) which will give you time to shop for an engine. GM makes good crate (new) motors with warranties. Jegs Catalog (free publication) (1-800-345-4545)list the prices and specs for the crate motors.
Guest Anonymous
Certainly read the whole manual cover to cover and get a really good idea of what is involved. You can time things much better that way, like installing urethane bushings, or suspension rebuilds when the engine is out of the car. The JTR is an awesome manual, extremely helpful and I love the fact that it gives part numbers. Tranny choice is a arduous process, Im going auto, no clutch lines to hook up or hydraulics to mess with, the only downside is chiseling out the tranny tunnel a bit. Good luck! Guest Anonymous
No clutch lines, but two tranny cooler lines for a auto and shift linkage plus the TV cable, its a toss up, either add a clutch pedal and plumb one line for a manual, or plumb two lines and route two cables (or one cable and one mech linkage).. *shrug* Regards, Lone
Guest timhypo
Sweet, another cincy hybrider. I, too, have a V8 hybrid in the works. I have the JTR manual and a '72. I'm gonna be looking for a motor in about a month (gotta pay off my bike). Let me know if you need a hand with anything. PS - What part of cincy are you from?
