Regulator wiring problems

this is a pretty narrow question, so i couldnt find much searching... i have a few electrical problems im dealing with in my car right now and im getting kind of agitated :x one that i just recently came upon that should be an easy fix is that the White wire going to my voltage regulator looks like it got pulled out from the plug and so im going to rewire them together. do you think that this was purposefully pulled out or should it definately be connected to the regulator? I continuity tested the all white wire to the fuse box from where it comes out of the wiring harness below the radiator tube and it lights up on five of the fuses, i cant find reason for this many lighting up through the wiring diagram but thats besides the point, it makes me think this wire ought to be connected to the regulator. i have a L28 in there so im not sure if that would have anything to do with that... also, theres a white and red wire coming from the reg that doesnt go to anything, i can't find this wire on my diagram so it makes me think the regulator is from a new or older model, mines a 72. any ideas guys?

Hi Zach, Did you ever figure out the tach problem? . Is the white/Red wire a large heavy gauge wire? if so that wire should be hooked up to the main out put of the alternater. They SHOULD NOT BE CONNECTED TOGETHER. I don't see the white/red being hooked up to the regulater. There ARE Black, white/black, yellow wires from the regulater to the alternater. There is also a small black/white wire that should only have power when the ignition switch is on and the large white wire should be getting power all the time from the battery. I hope I didn't confused you.

well, the tach is still messed up, im kindof stalemated with it right now and am working on other loose ends to get to there. well, in my schematic i have a white wire coming from the Voltage Regulator, and that goes straight to the fuse box with one wire and a fusible link coming from the starter motor, then it passes through the fuse and goes to the large white/red wire i believe. im going to go back out there and do some more work on it, im still not sure why it shows light when i touch those other four fuses though? maybe something is shorting on the positive side, if so a lot of my problems would be explained, and a lot more would probably show up when i fix it

thanks for the ideas

also, are you sure one of the yellow wires you saw going to your reg wasnt a white one? im looking at a late 240Z wiring diagram for manual.
