2Forty
Just about ready to pull the old engine and 4 speed and was wondering what to do about a new brake pedal. Pick up one from an automatic Z or is there something more exotic?
Guest 73TPIZ
I swapped my 2 pedals for an auto pedal from the guy i sold my L6 and 4 speed to. The best part is the upper brackets are the same, you just don't use the groove where the clutch went. pull the pin/bolt (can't remember) out and she drops down. a little tough gettin' your hand to the friggin pin way up there but would have been 10 times worse if that housing would've had to have come out. i used the shifter from the Trans Am the 700R4 came from. i put sheet metal over the hole and drilled a 1" hole forward where the cable goes through. best thing is the T-handle sticks up through the old manual boot (the housings a tight fit but not bad). if you used a camaro's ball shaped auto shifter those years (82-92), from outside the car, it'd look just like a manual. good luck with it
