Guest qwikrex
Has anyone ever considered this possibility? To the best of my knowledge, this engine is externaly identical to a 350 small block. It just happens to be designed for diesel fuel. I'm quite likely still going to do an LT1 conversion when I do my Z, however, I was just wondering if anyone has speculated about a turbo diesel Z like I have. Heavy Z
I asked the same question back in 2002 in jest, here's the thread: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5729&highlight= P.S. It gets pulled onto a tangent not having to do with the motor idea so skim it over. There is some useful info as I recall.
Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
Diesel does have it's advantages, but I dont think the diesel sound or torque curve suits a Z. There are other ways to get good mileage too. If you're a torque junky, there are other ways to get bottom end torque too. What is your interest in this engine? Guest qwikrex
Way cool! Thanks for the linkage! Glad to hear that someone else had the idea. Like I said, probably still gonna go with an LT1 but still a fun brain storm. Ohh and, I guess I meant 6.3L not 6.5. Unless of course, there was one of each? I forget. Thanks again! I agree though, it's not exactly suited to a Z, just thought it might be a cool, uniqe option. Maybe put air bag suspension on it and tow with it. Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
Maybe put air bag suspension on it and tow with it. Ok, but only if you put twin smoke-stacks. If you did decide to go with that setup, you might check into exhaust for the Dodge Ram crowd, as some of them cover up the diesel sound very well.
