Guest 2.8L_73_240Z_MikeR
I have 73 240Z with an L28 but I have leaking hitashi SU carbs. The mechanic I am dealing with suggests using brand new HS6 SU carbs, buying recond early 240Z carbs is not an option as I am in Australia and they are harder to get hold of. In anycase I assume that brand new carbs would be better but I am not sure. Has anyone used these carbs before? Does anyone have a better option? Thankyou, Mike
Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
How about buying carbs from someone and having them ship them to you? Where do your carbs leak from? You probably just need a rebuild.
Guest 2.8L_73_240Z_MikeR
Thanks for your reply, A re-build is out of the queston because the carbs are the flat-top carbs from the 73 240 and 74 260 and I heard that the best thing to do with them is throw them away. Basically I want to know if I am going to have any trouble with the HS6 carbs and in terms of what carbs I should use are they the best? Sorry I probably wasn't clear enough in my first post. A. G. Olphart
If you are starting with flat tops, it can only be an improvement!! (Will OZ laws allow the swap)? The original 240 carbs were just SU copies, so having the real thing shouldn't hurt... if your mechanic guarantees his results, what's to worry about? From what I've read, HS6's are 1 3/4 bore carb. If that matches the Datsun intake manifold (haven't had mine off) I'd go for it.
