Guest Hauptmann03
Hello again, Did anyone hear any results of the Maaco paint job problems various people complained about? I was just in the processs of getting a quote when I read them. Now I may be forced to do it myself. The Maaco employee I spoke with didn't mention anything about primer types, adhesion, acid, etc, that many of you speak about. I didn't know it was so involved. Guest BigWhyteDude
with auto paint jobs, pritty much the rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. A good paint job is all in the prep work. Andrew
VRJoe
I had my daughters car painted at Macco. After a few months the hood showed zebra stripping, so I took it back and they re-painted the whole car. They had a new manager who looked at the car, agoligized for the hood and said he'd do the whole car over again. No Charge. Not bad for the price, but I suspect that it depends on the management. For what I paid I'm pretty pleased, but that is due to the second painting. - Joe
Guest steveo
it depends on what you want to. you can pay 8grand for paint and have it be beautiful. BUt then you are so scared to get a ding or chips you don't enjoy the car. or You can pay 3g and have the car painted every 5 years and enjoy your car
Guest jdllaugh
I paid $300 for a budget paint job on my old S10, not at MAACO, and it worked out fine. Locally, they call it a "buff and spray" job. Basically, they just run over the car with a light sanding and then spray it. After two years, the paint looked fine. However, if you looked close, you could see faint swirl marks left by the sander. I would call it a good 5-footer job. One funny thing, a friend told me my tail lights were awfully dim, after the paint job. I pulled off the lens covers and found the bulbs were painted black, the same color as my S10. The painters just pulled the lens covers and sprayed away without tapping anything off! For the price, tho, it wasn't bad. I had several people comment on how nice it looked for such an old truck.
