Guest Anonymous
I was wondering if you guys would help me out in seeing if this prices seems like they are pretty reasonable. I have found a virgin 350 crate engine for $1600 and a rebuilt 6 speed tranny for $1900. This is for my 73 240. do any of these two seem to steep in price or seem to good to be true. I really have no clue, i really never had to price these before and really have only been looking on rebuiltcarengines.com Thank you
Guest Anonymous
The problem with the generic rebuilt motors is that everything is turned or bored .030. I was given was of these short lived rebuilt motors and found the cylinder heads were not only different numbered but more importantly the combustion chambers on each side differed from each other..GM crate motors fom Mr. Good Wrench are a good source. DavyZ
The first thing you should do is to buy the JTR V8 Z conversion manual and read it cover to cover at least twice before beginning anything. Then take it slowly and go from there. It has to be the base you build upon if you have not done something like this before. At the very least, it will be a helpful template for you to use for your conversion so that you do not become mired in the details. Just food for thought.
