Moridin
Have any of you thought about getting together and writing a faq on sbc conversion for early Z's. I think this would be a good idea, so you all aren't constantly answering the same questions. A list of parts needed would be awesome too, then everyone could build off of it for specific build ups. Just an idea.

Guest Anonymous
A FAQ was being prepared, I'm not sure as to its status at this time. Many questions get asked over and over as you mention. Due to the free nature of the site and the people behind the scenes keeping it running are sorely lacking for time to do such things because rightly so, they have lives, family and well Z cars to build! I believe theres a section here that deals with Hybridz.org developement, perhaps there they can more answer your question on where the FAQ stands. Its a big undertaking when you think of all the possible questions that gets asked and each situation can have its own set of issues. Anyway, as mentioned the JTR manual is our best resourse for raw information at this time, hybridZ is the definite supplemental site to that book and despite people getting sometimes impatient that we don't have an answer immediately for them, still the best information anywhere bar none for the nuances of high performance datsun swapping and mods. (maybe a bold statement, but theres some pretty damn smart people here answering questions (of which I'm not exactly one, just one that likes to post alot haha). danj
Some of the regulars that post to this site also have their own web sites that include documentation and pics that show the conversion process they have gone through. There are common problems that are familiar to many conversions but everyone also has their own unique process, fabrication techniques, parts preferences, performance or driveability goals etc. Also each each model series seems to have it's own peculiarities, like the Z vs. the ZX. Perhaps we could start with a reference of all the HybridZ sites for guys who have their own web sites with descriptions of how they solved the problems with their conversions. I'm planning on documenting all the techniques used to solve hood and steering clearance issues, EFI, A/C, etc., on my ZX conversion along with pics to assist anyone who wants to do the same. jeromio
We started to put together a FAQ, but unfortunately we didn't get very far. Here it is: http://240z.jeromio.com/faq I started with a basic framework and people like John Coffey added lots of info. There is some good information there, it's just not comprehensive. My offer of adding any and all info to this document still stands. Just email it to me. (And if you did, and I didn't get around to adding it, you can harrass me about it.... )
Moridin
Oh, I know time is very constricting for most. I'm learning that as I go to school and try to work at the same time. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound demanding with my question, I just thought if we could manage to fit a lot of basic data into one area, it may help clear the way for some more interesting swaps from the uneducated. I think this, hands down, is the absolute best site on the web for anything car related. I learn so much, and not just about Z's. Anyways, maybe if I get some time I can start to gather some info from this site to add to that faq. Thanks for everyone's help so far.
