convertable Z?

I was curious if anyone knows much about a convertable Z? Is it possible? Cost? Parts? would there be any damage to the bodies strentgh?

I was told that one of the biggest problems is that the top of the car holds much of the body strength. Keep in mind that this was a guy selling the top of a Z that I assume he cut off to make a convertable.

What I envision is a Z that would look similar to, say... the shelby cobra.

Any thoughts are appreciated. cheers.gif

Could this topic be moved to the "Body kit section" ? The easiest way to reinforce the topless z is to weld in some 2x2 square tubing in the cockpit fore and aft alongside the rocker panels and connect these to the rear strut towers. Connect the rear strut towers across to each other. Connect the front strut towers across to each other and then to to the firewall which is connected to the 2x2 square tubing in the **** pit.I have the Tomahawk #8 which price has jumped from $2700 to around $10,000 of a liitle over 30 total production units which would have put the kit out of my reach today plus a long waiting list..Unfortunately the other alternative the Velo Rossa based on the Ferarri GTO is in dire straits with new owners but hopefully the originator can bring it back from the ashes.. Eric Nyerlin offers a convertible kit with a great reinforcement package but almost requires a rotisserie to weld in by an amatuer. Z Therapy.Com offers how to videos on an all steel convertible. I have seen a example of this work owned by a friend and it is NICE!
