Guest Zachb55
The topic says it all guys, this post is about fine tuning, and im requesting some help here. Im not sure what the next step to take is, but i can't get my carbs to perform correctly. My car had been running pretty rough and it hasnt been what it needs to be since i did my resto. I just adjusted the valves for a second time and it is running much better now, but still runs poorly, especially with the choke off. When it is on the car revs much smoother and drives better, but is much less powerfull on the top end. with the choke off it is weak everywhere, and when i let of the gas and then put the gas back on (same gear) it nearly dies... the choke making it seem to run better made me think it was tuned too lean, but when i take a whiff of the exhaust it smells pretty rich (very harsh fuely smell). Also when i was adjusting the valves i inspected my spark plugs. Cylinder 1's was white (as in too hot), the rest were pretty sooty with some whiteness on the other two front cylinders... so any tuning specialists out there with an idea? ive tuned my carbs through a wide range on the main adjustment screw and it seems to run the same throughout the spread. IVE GOT TILL THE END OF THE WEEK TO GET THIS FIXED SO PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO OFFER ME YOUR KNOWLEDGE. thanks very much, -Zach
