Guest Rum Runner
I searched on here, and couldn't find what i was looking for. I need a completely new suspension for my 83 300 zx 2+2. I'm considering doing a v8 swap, but would rather get the suspension fixed because i can't get the car over 55 mph without the whole thing shaking like a crazy vibrator on crack, and when a hit the gas, the whole car rocks front to back a couple of times, and it just doesnt feel safe all around. I'll probably drag the car a little, autocross a little, but it will mainly be a daily driver that will have 17" x 9" in the rear and 17" x 7" up front, i'm working on the fender flares to fit in the wheels and tires, but i was also wondering if you guys thought that some 335's would fit on the rear tires? Yes i plan on living with the consequences of this setup on a daily driver, but any info on this would be greatly appreciated, also, if you could list where i might find the suspension pieces, and about how much they might run me. Thanks guys ~Shea
Guest Aaron
1st, there is no '83 300ZX. It has to be an '84 (or better). 2nd, sounds like your suspension may need a rebuild. You can use either OEM rubber or Poly bushings, but for a daily driver you may want to use the OEM stuff. You will want to use the OEM rubber TC rod bushings at any rate. (Search for a post on "Scary Tension Rod Failure" and you will see why.) You will also want to replace your struts, and possibly springs. Make sure you check your ball joints, wheel bearings and tie rod ends while you have it apart.
