Help with modifying sensor for injector/fuel rail fan

Hi, I'm pretty sure my 83 I/C'd 280ZXT is suffering from vapor lock, for reasons I won't go into here...I've posted on it about 5 times ( high tech, misc tech, turbo forums). Let's just assume that the closest thing I have to a fix is to somehow get the stock injector/fuel rail fan to come on at a substantially lower temp...say 140-160 instead of 219 as programmed from stock. I would still only need it on when I shut off the engine, but as it is, I won't be seeing temps of above 210 underhood until July Aug here in New England, but you never know!

Anyway, I'm no mechanic, but I hope there might be some simple way of doing this, preferably with stock parts, but I'm open for aftermarket parts if you supply a link and or part#..I'm hoping I could do this without moving the sensor, but I'll have my mechanic do it if there's anything of a step by step instruction on how to do that/buy parts/place with more than complete hit or miss attitude.

Can you help?

John

simply ground the wire sensor wire for the injector fan and it will come on everytime you turn the car off, regarless of what temp it is. I believe the wire is green up at the thermostat. Just find a close bolt to ground on. I've been having the same problems as you and this helped a lot.

I assume the previous respondent had a timer added to the sensor computer, as simply grounding the wire from it will make the sensor think the engine is always over 219F, and never shut off?!?!??? This happened when the mechanic sealing up a gasket job reversed the green and yellow wires (to sensor control and dashboard engine temp display) and the fan never shut off, draining my batttery several days in a row before I figured out it was the culprit!

You could always buy a temp control for a radiator fan from Pep Boys. Make sure it is adjustable and install it in your radiator, but wire it to your fuel rail fan. When your radiator reaches say 160 or whatever you dial it for it will come on, set to turn off at 220 or so and it will turn off when your not there ( connect + to battery )

Hey, Brandon's right....though not exact as to location of said wire!!!

Anyway, I got the nerve to cut the wire, and ground it, and indeed, works as he said! Nice little fix, I've yet to learn if it is really impacting my vapor lock condition here in cold arse N.E....will post again if it don't!
