Guest 2002sentraSER
which would you choose if you had a mild amount of knowledge about cars and a mild amount of time and money which would you choose for a v8 z for the drag strip and why? also tranmissions i am thinking about a lt1/t56 combo maybe ls1/t56 if i can find it please advise thanks
Guest Anonymous
If you have a mild mount of knowledge on cars, I'd forget doing the LS1/T56 swap, others may disagree, but I think its a bit of a advanced swap considering that the JTR kit doesn't work on it. Even the LT1 although not particularly hard has a few gotcha's with the accessorie drive up front, nothing major and others here have posted they're solutions here. Carb'ed would be easier still because you don't have the fuel pressure requirements of a fuel injected motor. First step is to buy the JTR manual and read it over and over, its not huge and won't take long, that'll let you know what your up against and if you feel you want to take on the swap, then they'll be fewer surprises. Good luck with it. Regards, Lone
Guest Anonymous
I agree with Lone. With little money and knowledge and a car for dragstrip purposes.. go for a carb and turbo 350 or find a hybrid Z completed.I am doing a "simple" JTR swap by myself and having many difficult surprises. I have tools and experience but still have difficulty.
BLKMGK
This is easy - carb and don't go LT1 or LS1. Carbs at WOT are nearly as good as EFI - close enough that any arguable advantage is nullified by the added cost and complexity. Go carb, save a bunch, be happy
