easiest turbo motor in 76 Z

i was just curious as to what motor that comes stock with a turbo is the easiest to put in a Z? would it the 280zxt motor? i might just do this for now til i get a tranny and standalone for the rb

im new with the datsun thing so im pretty unsure...as far as motor mounts and tranny mounts do i have to fabricate them or are they pretty much bolt on apps...any other mods that i would need to complete this ?

welcome to the club, datsun280Zmike!! to answer your question, even tho they change a lot for the 280ZX from teh earlier 280Z's, the transmission and engine mounts remained the same. It is a direct bolt in. its prettymuch as simple as replacing the stock motor. also, the 280ZXT motors can take quite a bit of abuse! have fun with it!

yeah dude it's all the same. Externally all of the 240-260-280z, and 280zx and zxt engine blocks are identical and bolt up the same. There are a few different transmissions, but as far as I know all 4 and 5 speed trannies will bolt directly in, the only one that mounts differently is the Borg Warner 5 speed, which you need to do some mods to get it in a 1st gen Z. The hardest thing about swapping a 280zxt motor into an earlier Z is wiring up the ZXT EFI, and even that really isn't that hard.
