Do you like to rebuild motors because it is fun? Go the salvage route. If not, go crate. 327 motors were found in '62 to '69 Chevy cars and trucks of all descriptions. 350s came in '68 to present day with the original block design good from '68 to '84. Again, they were put in cars and trucks of all descriptions. The 327's and 350's share the same basic block so exterior dimensions and weight are the same. A 350 would make sense from a power and parts availablilty standpoint. DavyZ Posted October 18, 2002 Share Posted October 18, 2002 Word of caution: plan out what you want to accomplish FIRST before starting to just spend money. This project will cost you more then you think it will---for most people it is at least DOUBLE what they thought it would be A crate motor is great if (1) you can afford it (lump sum is big) (2) it will be nearly 100% reliable, especially if it is a GM crate motor. A junk yard motor is not a bad thing, but make sure you can get some kind of warranty or you can hear it run before you pull it. If you go with an EFI motor, make sure you pull EVERYTHING electronic that goes with the engine. You also should pull the gas tank & fuel pumps too.
