Guest VanillaSky
Hey guys Im new to Hybridz and am currently having Tom at Scorpion Z Cars build a GTZ for me. I just dont trust myself enough to do it if you know what I mean. Its great to see everyone get together and share their passion and knowledge. I look forward to joining in on the chats. I dont have a whole lot of knowledge on Z cars or kit history but I am pretty educated on the real GTO. If anyone needs any good pictures of a real one let me know. I sit right by one everyday (my boss owns one and races it). Anyway its great to be a part of this and look forward to sharing my experiences with you. So far Tom at Scorpion Z Cars has been extremely helpfull and professional. I see that he is kind of new to kit selling but damn is his product amazing. I honestly think its worth every penny. Thats why I am having him build it, I know I would screw it up and why not have the man that created it do it. Oh and by the way 250gto your car is amazing. I am going for the same look except I am going with Pozzi blue wich is the non metallic Ferrari factory color. Anyway I'll shut up but im excited to be part of the gang. Take care. SpeedRacer
Welcome to HybridZ VanillaSky! You'll find a few GTO Z owners here. I have traded emails with Tom and it looks like he builds a fine car. Sometime I would like to see one in person. I like the trunk kit he has come up with. If my car wasn’t already finished I would definitely add the trunk kit to my car. Also, based on some of the stuff he has available I would guess he has been working with Jim Simpson. http://www.simpsondesign.net/index.htm Jim used to build the GTO (he called it a Rhino) when he owned Blue Ray Engineering. Jim is a great guy and also builds some very high quality parts.
Guest JAMIE T
I ran into a guy at the Carroll Shelby reunion at VIR two years ago who claimed to have pioneered the trunk set-up on the Z based GTO's. He had a car there that they were racing and it was very well done. He said he had once worked for one of the original GTO kit builders(I think it was Alpha) But I can't for the life of me find his card. The car he had there belonged to a BMW salesman in NC I do remember that much. Anyway, he said he used early 70's camaro rear window trim(modified) around the shortened rear window.
