What happened to the Ford 289 or the '88 vg30et?

 

As I said in a one of your other topics, my dad has a SBC 400 in his '84. Since the small block chevy's have the same external dimensions, yes a 383 will fit. The 502 will most likely be too tall without significant adjustment to your hood. The carb on the 400 is within 1" of the hood.

I have 2 300zx's one im useing for the vg30 turbo swap and the other im going to put the 289 or 383 in but the turbo swap one is my daily driver the other is maybe a track slut if i can do it :)

When we did that we found the SBC to be too tight under the hood with a common holley spreadbore.

If you do this swap the GM "corporate" TPI 350-383 is an exellent choice to not chop holes in your hood.
