Guest Gillez260ZT
Hi, I will soon be installing a TEC2 in my turbocharged 260Z and would like to know if those on this site running TEC2's made their brackets for the crank sensor or purchased them from a third party. Same for the installation of the trigger wheel on the harmonic balancer. I know Top End will do it all if I send them my harmonic balancer but I wonder if there are any other sources. Thanks in advance, Gilles Lajoie
DAW
Have you looked at the '81 L28ET set-up?
Guest Gillez260ZT
What kind of setup do the 81 turbos use? I'm not familiar with it.
DAW
The dampner has a toothed wheel and the timing cover mounts a crank angle sensor pickup. The later L28ETs used a distributor CAS.
Guest Gillez260ZT
Wow, I didn't know that. I have the factory service manual for an 83ZX and assumed all the turbos had a distributor mounted system. Do you know how many teeth are on the toothed wheel for the 81 turbo? Are you running a programmable engine management system on your car? Thanks for the help. DAW
The '82-'83s do use a distributor-type crank angle sensor but the '81s have a crank-type sensor. I don't know how many teeth, but a lot. I'm not using this set-up, I've just seen it. I need a CAS to use on my road race PL510 and this may be what I need. DAW
