Guest 280ZX_Classic
I recently got my '79 280ZX out of the shop after an engine rebuild (just the block, head, and internals) and extensive paint/body work. I am now looking at a fully restored classic as of this year, and now I want to start in on the engine/drivetrain. I have some ideas for the engine, but I am still stumped on the rear. I've driven a mustang for most of my car ownership, so I was thinking of getting a junkyard 8'8 rear with 3:73's and traction lock. I can pick a setup like this up for next to nothing in the south. What I don't know is how hard this is to install into my model ZX. I am clueless as to what I should to do keep the wheels on the groud. Right now my engine setup is planned so that it will have a little over 300 HP at the wheels/crank (depending) with nitrous, but I haven't installed and dyno'ed everything yet. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Heavy Z
Your stock rear end should be fine for that level of power, get some good tires and see how it works for you first.
