ToplessZ
Hey guys I know someone has to know this. Im getting ready to get into the engine stage hopefully in january. What I want to know is If I find a good deal on a 383 rotating assembly. What should the machine shop price be on boring over and clearencing a bare block and how much could I save if I clearence it myself. And then have them assemble the whole shortblock. Gonna go aftermarket on heads. Thanks for any info or suggestions. Im just trying to save money here and dont have time and I dont have yet the knowledge to rebuild this engine. Thanks again... Guest zfan
I would guess if you give the shop the block and rotating assembly it would cost maybe a grand. They would vat the block bore it, cam bearings, freeze plugs, deck it and balance and install the the entire rotating assembly. Maybe cheaper depending on what neck of the woods your from!
