Guest Rainer3012
Well I just sold my 1980 corvette for something a little more unique. A rustbucket 81 280zx, but hey I always liked a challange. The body work will be cake. But I'm hoping to swap a 350 like the one I had in the vette between the ZX's fenders. I'm just really confused about one part. How do you hook up a chevy transmission to the Z's pedal linkage. I've done lots of motor work but very little in the tranny dept. Can anyone enlighten me? VRJoe
The clutch is hydraulic, if you do a search you'll find lots of info about master cylinders, slave cylinders and how to hook them up. - Joe
Guest the_dj
Mine has a datsun clutch master (I'm pretty sure it's the stock one from the '78 Z) pushing the huge clutch of a '97 T56. Sure, I had a sore left leg for the first month I drove it, but now that I'm used to it I have NO trouble and it's certainly not the limiting factor in the speed of my shifts. When I say I had a sore left leg, I'm talking shaking from exhaustion trying to use the clutch in heavy, slow traffic.
Pyro
Just bolt on a bigger clutch master cylinder. Tilton or wilwood. Get a JTR V8 conversion manual. The manual explains these little details. However, the manual is written for the first gen Z's but most stuff will apply to the ZX.
