Guest Anonymous Posted November 17, 2000 Share Posted November 17, 2000 this is the # that was on the block right under the GM stamp 3970014 also on the valve cover it has a sticker with PT NO 330576 it has a two bolt main with a orange painted block also it had a 4 barral carb on it it was pulled out of a Chevy work truck it was used for some company and the year was just starting it started to blow smoke so the guy said put a new one in and left the engine the engine that went back in was a 350 price is 50 bucks any info on this engine? thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Anonymous Posted November 18, 2000 Share Posted November 18, 2000 Two or four bolt will work ok, used block is good as its been heated and stressed etc. Long as it checks out (have it magnafluxed and checked for cracks at a machine shop) then it sounds like a good core block to start with. How much horsepower are you looking to build? That would be the question if 2 or 4 bolt main would be preferable, and even that is debatable, but for a moderate street engine 2 bolt should be fine. Use good ARP bolts and you should'nt have any problems with it. My opinion anyway, your mileage will vary, void where prohibited by law. Guest Locutus Posted November 18, 2000 Share Posted November 18, 2000 Even if you decide your HP is more than a 2 bolt can handle you can always have the machine shop put on splayed caps as they are stronger than a regular 4 bolt anyway.
