ToplessZ
Hello 2002, Lets see. Your engine mounting will be exactly the same as the 350. All 400 dimensions are the same as a 350 for mounting purposes so you can use all the jtr mounts for your conversion. The over heating problems that arise are usually due to blocked steam holes in the heads either from using the head gaskets from a 350 or heads designed for a 350. All small block heads can work on a 400 but the steam hole passages must be drilled out. If you are referring to the same engine and transmission combo that you were talking about in a previous post. That is a good deal and a complete steal if you are getting help installing it. I would recommend getting a 200r4 or a 700r4 transmission with overdrive instead of the 350 or 400 trans that you had mentioned coming with it. Sell it and get one of the aforementioned overdrive transmissions. You will love yourself later. IF you have any questions about why this is a good idea feel free to ask as this post is already going on forever. Good luck with your swap cant wait to hear more about it. Guest sb400z
I've got a 400 with a 700R4 in my 72, and the only time I get worried about the heat is when I'm sitting in 110 degrees of traffic in a busy Phoenix intersection. This is after i put a BIG fan in front of the radiator and a BIGGER one on the back though. If it goes over 230, just hope you have a long strait in front of you to cool down with . Other than that make sure you drill the steam holes because most heads don't come like you need them. Have fun with the extra cubes.
