Guest Anonymous
Ok guys, I just finished reading the JTR book for the install of a 350 265hp crate motor(cant afford the 330hp maybe later?)and a WC T-5 five speed trans. I am working with a 72 240 that I got for $200 sitting in a barn. It is straight and in primer. My plans are to pull the eng and trans and sanitize the eng compartment as shown in the JTR book. Once that is done, it will go to the painters while the eng and interior are out. I am planning to run Eibach prokit springs and Tokiko blue struts on the car. Will this setup be ok with the V-8 or will I need a more beefy spring/strut combo for decent performance. Anyone have any words of wisdom for be before I start this project? As I said, I did completely read through the JTR book and it made sense to me. I have nearly 20 years experience with ownership of dozens of Z cars so I am very familiar with the basic six cylinder version of the 240Z and I am ready to make one that is really awesome to drive. Well as awesom as can be with the 265hp motor anyway! Thanks for any good input! Jetmon135@yahoo.com Z-ya, Alex R.
Guest Anonymous
It just depends on what you are going to do with the car. If its a street car then you are probably fine. If you are going to the track (road course) you may want coil overs. I don't know about the strip but I'm sure some one will chime in. The other option is to get the car on the road and see if this set up meets your needs. Don't worry about redoing the suspension, or for that matter the entire car. These cars are NEVER finished. Just ask my wife.
Guest Anonymous
O yeah, I forgot to mention that this car will be my daily driver so it will be a 100% street car and not doing any drag racing except for the occasional light to light, but no track or autox for it. While I have it down for painting etc, I will be installing a complete poly urethane kit in the front and rear and 1 inch front swaybar. I am basically building it for a good all around car that gets reasonable good fuel mileage and is fun to drive without costing a fortune to build or maintain. Hopefully anyone that reads my posts will understand that so I will not get a lot of feedback from all out race car guys with info that will not apply to my needs concerning building this car up. Thanks much, Alex R.
Guest Anonymous
Good plan... Paint the body the very LAST or do the engine compartment paint prior to final engine installation
